September 29, 2006 Fishing at Shabbona
I got to the lake at 6 AM, sun just barely coming up. Air temp 38 degrees and calm. Water temp 58-60 degrees, visibility about 18 inches, weeds thinning nicely. Muskie Gear Only today, left the bass rods at home. By 6:20 I was taking a picture of this 35 incher. He went for a blue-black chatterbait (rigged with a Muskie-size treble hook trailer and 80lb PowerPro) in about 3-4 feet of water on the outside weed edge. I fished until 11 AM, but never saw another muskie. I spent about 45 minutes up in the NE bay throwing 5-6 inch blue grubs, hoping to fool another muskie, but just caught a 16 inch bass instead. It's Muskie Time Get out there and get yourself one !!!! Good Luck Everybody. PS. I saw Blackjack and Mr. Wilson getting ready to launch the boat as I was leaving. Good Luck Guys !!!
