September 19, 2007 Fishing at Shabbona Lake State Park, Shabbona Illinois
Lisa and I made a quick run out today. It was my first "real" fishing trip since July 18, 2007 , and the first day in 2007 that I tied on a muskie lure !!! I launched at 6:30 AM, water temp 68 degrees, visibility about a foot. I went straight to the back corner of the NMZ, which was already full of muskie fisherman. I spent 3 hours casting anything and everything. Nada. A few muskies were rolling around, but I didn't see or hear anyone get the hooks into a fish. At 9:30 AM, Lisa arrived, so I picked her up and shot over to the NE Bay. She tossed a Blue-Black chatterbait and was soon smiling with an 18.5 incher. At the noon whistle, we were tired of the lazy bass action and decided to do a little muskie trolling. At 12:10 Lisa was smiling again with a 29-30ish muskie. Perch pattern Super Shad Rap, trolled about 30 feet behind the boat. 1 PM we were back on the trailer and heading home. This horrible lack of fishing trips is about to END !!! Good Luck Everybody !!!!
