September 16, 2006 Bass Fishing at Sangchris Lake, near Springfield IL
"The Sangchris Bass Gang" (Brad aka Hawg Czar, Wes aka Lucky Ace, Gramps and myself) got together for our first Sangchris trip of the Fall (a little early I guess). Air temp 84 degrees, strong south wind (15-20 mph), water temp 78-84 degrees, visibility of about a foot, lake level is about 2 feet below normal pool. The lilypads have not grown as thick this year as they have in the past, and with the low water levels, the lilypads just aren't holding many quality fish right now. Our luck improved as we transitioned out to the 6-12 foot zone and started throwing larger standard (not the shallow) shad raps. No Monsters today. The "fish of the day" was the 18.5" I'm holding. Wes aka Lucky Ace took second place with a grouchy 17 incher. We'll be back out in a week or two to get a nice Fall Pattern nailed down. Good Luck Everybody.
