Fishing on the Fox Chain of Lakes

One little 27 inch Pike and a handful of 13-14.5 inch bass... but the story of the day is the "new" boat.

I launched the "new" boat for the first time today. (Also the first time I've ever seen or fished on the Fox Chain.) After cruising around Shabbona with a 9.9 hp for the past few years, a 75hp seems FAST especially when it's pushing a little 16.5 foot Ranger !!! Hits right at 40 mph on plane.

I launched around 10 AM and "fished" until 5 PM, (spent at least half the time playing with/driving the boat). Pike and bass were on the ole Golden Spinnerbait in the shallow weeds of Catherine Lake. I'll be out sometime next week for some real fishing !!!
