March 29-30, 2007 Bass Fishing at Sangchris Lake, near Springfield IL
Lisa and I made the trip down to Sangchris for the first time in 2007. (And yes, we got rained on, a lot.) Good News !!! The lake is at Normal Pool !!! Water temp was 70-78 degrees, clarity about 6 inches to a foot. We fished two days, starting about Noon each day and fishing until dusk. We found the most active fish in the general area of the lilypad fields. There was enough floating/suspended dead weeds to make shad raps virtually impossible to work in the areas I wanted, so we used the Yum Wooley Curlytail grubs, weedless on a 1/8 ounce bullet weight, around the lilypads in 2-6 feet of water. The bass fishing is good, and will be getting WILD very soon. I'm planning to get back out there in the second week of April. I hope you all catch a Big One. Save one for me !!!! Here's Video Clip of Lisa trying not to ruin her manicure while unhooking a few small bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91UKQ5BvSgo Good Luck Everybody !!!!
