Muskie Fishing at Lake Kinkaid

After the 41" and 47"ers last week, Lisa caught The Fever.

Lisa and I took the long trip down.  We launched at 10:30 AM. The water clarity was about 6 inches, the temperature was hovering around 50 degrees, and the DNR has finished trapping the muskies. There were very few boats on the water. The flooding and poor clarity, and frankly crumby weather had most guys sitting at home.

Fishing with the exact same "dirty water" pattern as March 21,2008, it wasn't long before Lisa had this beautiful 40 incher trying to pull her out of the boat.

Lisa battled the fish like a pro. Poor Muskie never had a chance !!!

All I heard was "Got One."  I looked over my shoulder and Lisa had this big girl cranked right up to the boat !!!! 20 seconds later, she was in the bag and it was High Five time.

Here's a Video Clip of Lisa with her fish.

We fished until 6 PM, then drove back to Carbondale (stayed at the Hampton Inn) and had dinner at Houlihan's. Not a bad day !!!

The ice has finally left Shabbona, so I'll be staying up North until next March. The muskies should spawn over the next 2 weeks, and as the water clears, the bite will get very good, very quickly !!! If you can handle the drive, it will be worth your time. New to the lake ?? Call Chad Cain www.chadcain.com. Tell him Wakeman sent you, and he'll show you the "spot".

Good Luck Everybody !!!

I hope to see you on the water very soon.
