The Secret Bass Pond
I have to start by saying that I normally fish public parks and forest preserves where I usually have to fish hard for a few hours to catch a nice pair of keeper bass. This pond breaks all the rules, and defies logic. This is a private 40 acre pond that I occasionally get to fish, thanks to a friend of a friend of the guy who owns it. This place is aggressively stocked with big bass and is virtually never fished. It's like fishing virgin water. To be honest, I never knew, or even imagined that fishing like this existed in the state of Illinois. I also never imagined that an average guy could catch big bass at will, even on untouched water. This pond was a real eye-opener. I'm no longer impressed with guys like Bill Dance and Hank Parker who film their shows on private lakes.
