The Soft Plastic Injured Minnow

These soft plastic jerkbaits are fantastic. Rigged weedless they can be cast into anything and retrieved without a snag. Bass must really hate these things, because when they hit it, they KILL IT. I like to use a 2/0 or 3/0 offset worm hook, X-Point brand is my favorite.

I like to use these in the thickest weeds with a pause and twitch retrieve, and every 5 or 6 feet, let it "die". The twitching gets there attention, and the "dying" usually triggers the strike. I always start with this retrieve, if I don't get a hit, I speed up, twitching it erratically without any pauses. As a last resort, I'll deadstick it. The great thing about these baits is that they can be fished effectively at any speed through the thickest slop, (where you know the bass are hiding). There are many brands of this type of bait. My favorites are Slugos, Bass Assassin's , and Cabela's Living Eye Minnows.

Here are a few of the fish caught on these.
