Fishing at Shabbona Lake State Park, Shabbona Illinois

19 Inches

(same fish)

This was Lisa's first Shabbona Trip of 2007.

We launched at 6:30 AM, water temp 74-75 degrees, visibility about 6 inches. Straight over to the NE Bay with chatterbaits (blue-black , 3/8 oz), weeds really haven't changed much since my last trip out, June 20, 2007. We had some quick action, but by 8 AM, the boat was back on the trailer and covered for an hour as we waited out the rain.

9 AM, back to the NE Bay in a nice dry boat. Fishing picked up, just where we left it. Best fish was a fat 19 incher, followed by a regular sized 19 incher, an 18.5 incher, 17", a pair of 15's, and four or five 12-14 inchers. All caught on chatterbaits (actually the Strike King version) fished in and around the lilypads in 2-4 feet of water, fast straight retrieve.

A little after the noon whistle blew, the heat-wave rolled in, and we rolled out.

Good Luck Everybody !!!!
