Fishing at Shabbona

I snuck out today for 3 hours (first solo trip in 5 1/2 weeks). Conditions were the same as 2 days ago July 12, 2006. I spent the first 30 minutes throwing the blue-black Chatterbait, Zipo Zero Nada, so I went to the good old grubs.

Best fish was the 17 incher pictured above.  I had 2 other "keepers" at 15.5-16 inches,

(sorry, too much hassle with the self-timer thing)

and about a dozen and a half 10-12 inchers. All caught in the NE bay (only place I fished) on the Yum Wooley Curlytail grubs. Rigged weedless with a 1/8 oz bullet weight, straight fast retrieve about 4-6 inches under the surface right up in the weeds.

I'll be back sometime next week, Joey wants to do some catfishing !!!
