January 9, 2008 Bass Fishing at Spring Lake South, near Peoria IL
Day 2 of 3
5 pound 9 ounce Hawg Czar Special !!! After seeing pictures of the crusher I caught yesterday, Brad and Mom wanted to come fishing with me today. Again, we launched at 1 PM. (Goose season is in effect until Feb 1st, so NO FISHING before 1 PM) The water temp had slipped back down to 40 degrees. We hit the usual areas (dead lilypad stalks), with the same old grub pattern, but the bite was significantly slower than in years past. I guess I need to get busy and work on the next cold water pattern, after all, this one has been beaten to death on this lake by myself and about 100 other guys. I'll get working on it in February. It's hard to tie on something else when you only have 3-4 hours to fish, and it's still fooling an occasional five pounder. After 2 hours of NOTHING, Hawg Czar set the hook and reeled in a sow of a bass, just lipping her at the boat. Here's a little video clip of the day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMrZ3tUQf6I
Mom cranked in nice 16 incher, and I drew the big fat skunk.
