January 10, 2008 Muskie Fishing at Spring Lake North, near Peoria IL
Day 3 of 3
After a pair of 5#10oz and 5#9oz pound bass, why on earth would you switch lakes on day #3 ????
Hmmmmmm......
39.5 inches with a 18.5 inch girth (same fish below)
Mom and Dad came with me today. We opted to give the bass a break and do a little muskie hunting. Again we launched at 1 PM. (Goose season is in effect until Feb 1st, so NO FISHING before 1 PM) I started things off with a follow from a real SOW of a muskie (easy 41-42 incher who slashed right at the boat). Two casts later she struck about 10 feet out, rocketed away peeling my drag, but pulled off after only 5-7 seconds (seemed much longer at the time). I felt like a kid with a popped balloon.......... That was horrible. But at least I had a pattern that felt good. Next fish was the 39.5 incher. That fish was really stout, estimated weight 17 pounds. Followed by a sunset 36 incher. Here's a little video clip of the day. http://youtube.com/watch?v=l9__PTi6jIc
Good Luck Everybody !!! I hope to see you on the water very soon.
