October 2001 Camping Trip

at Shabbona Lake State Park

Joe, Rosemary, Kevin, Lisa, Joey and Lauren all went camping.

 What a great way to spend a couple of days. We stayed in the park's only cabin in the campground. Cozy, but surprisingly nice for a $35 cabin. The weather was great. Warm, sunny and breezy, just the kind of weather that makes all the fish go hide on the bottom of the lake. There's nothing like the smell of a campfire, but the smell of bass frying in Dad's secret formula is a close second. We fried up four big bass our first night. Mmmmmm. Joey enjoyed his first boat ride. I made the mistake of making it a wild joy ride. After that, he wasn't too happy about trolling for muskies at 3 mph, but the playground and campsite were big winners.
