Fishing at Delavan Lake, Delavan WI

That wasn't the Biggest Keeper Bass, but he was SO THICK he had to go on top !!! Built like a cement block, at 18 inches, he was over 4 Pounds.

19.5"

Joey and I launched at 7:30 AM and fished until 5:30 PM. Water temp was 78 degrees, and the visibility was 2-3 feet in most places we fished. We concentrated mainly in the 10-14 foot zone for the first half of the day. Plastic worms, brushogs, and other creature baits fished slowly through the weeds gave us plenty of action.  The "over 18 inch" fish were, however, not as cooperative until we switched over to gold spinnerbaits in the afternoon. Something about gold in the afternoon gets them going. We ended with 6 bass meeting or beating the 18 inch limit, a 22 inch Bonus Walleye, and hoards of 17 inchers.

Delavan is a Fantastic Bass Fishery, but it is not a pristine Wisconsin wilderness !!!! The shoreline is 100% developed, launching is expensive and very limited, parking is tough, and it is packed with skiers throwing 3 foot wakes all day. But if you know this in advance, it's a cool lake/playground.

Good Luck Everybody !!!
