April 24, 2008 Fishing at Shabbona Lake State Park, Shabbona Illinois
This was my 3rd Shabbona trip this year. Once again, the wind was unreal. Most of the lake was unfishable, but the fish wanted to bite anyway. I launched at 8:30 AM and fished until 2 PM. Water temp was 57 degrees and the clarity has slightly improved (in the areas without white-caps). I caught about 15 bass. The largest was 18.5 inches. The rest were all 10-14 inchers. My shallow shad rap (Rapala SSR size 7, bright orange) was the bait of choice. The fish were all hanging around new weed growth in 2 to 4 feet of water. One of these days, I'll get out on a day when I can fish the NE Bay !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPoiiotYnIo
Good Luck Everybody !!!
