Bass Fishing at Spring Lake South, near Peoria IL

On my way down to re-assemble "The Sangchris Bass Gang" (Brad aka Hawg Czar, Wes aka Lucky Ace, and myself) for the weekend, I just had to run over to Spring Lake to check the conditions. Mom met me at the lake and we spent the afternoon looking for the bass. Unfortunately, my suspicions had come true. The extra warm weather had the weeds in overdrive, about a quarter of the 600 acres were filled with emerging lilypads and the vast majority of the water had floating globs of Eurasian Milfoil fouling any lure in the water. This lake is becoming a giant bowl of weed soup. We pulled out a handful of "keepers", but I won't be back to this lake until February 2007.
