April 10, 2006 Bass Fishing at Sangchris Lake, near Springfield IL
This was my first day on Sangchris since January, the lake has come up some with the recent rain, but it's still about 2 feet below normal pool. The clarity was better than I had expected, at about a foot, temp was 60 to 65 degrees depending on location. The action was good, Best Bass was 20 inches and 4 pound 2 ounces, runner up was a really stout 17 incher, a few others over the 15 " limit and about 2 dozen runts, all the action was on my trusty shallow shad rap (Rapala SSR 7, plain shad pattern). I had to retire one of my shad raps after in hauled in a big nasty stinking snapping turtle, YUCK !!!
