Bass Fishing at Spring Lake South State Park, near Peoria IL

7 pounds 2 ounces, 23 inches and FAT

Now that's the way to kick off the year !!!

January 3, 2007

Joey is still on Christmas Break, the weather is warm, and the Waterfowl Season is winding down, so that means it's time to hit the LAKE !!!Joey and I packed up and took the 4 hour drive down to the Peoria area and it paid off BIG.

Now Goose Season is still open, so you can't launch a boat until 1 PM on either lake, and it gets dark at 4:30 PM, so the fishing day is really short, but the painful drive is more than paid for with Big Fat Winter Bass.

Water temp was 39 degrees, visibility about a foot, same pattern as last winter (find the holes and give them the magic bait). We launched at 1 PM and by 1:25 PM the 7 Pounder was in the boat !!!

Next day.

The weather went sour, so Joey had to stay indoors (42 degree driving rain with steady 10-20 mph winds), but only a tornado could keep Mom out of the boat !!! We got on the water about 1:30 PM and fished until 4:30 PM. We had a few solid 4.5 - 4 pounders, but the Super Monsters were elusive.....  I'll be back in the Very Near Future !!!!
